What does "Undeliverable" mean in the mail status?

Modified on Fri, 24 Oct at 3:03 PM

Mail appears as “Undeliverable” when it cannot be delivered to any of the recipient’s channels.

This can happen if:

  • The email address bounced

  • The customer was deregistered

  • There was no valid delivery channel at the time of sending

If only one channel failed (e.g. one of multiple emails), the others may still have succeeded. If there are multiple subscriptions for a document, it may have only failed delivery to one recipient but been successfully delivered via other channels

Your next steps:

  • Review the undelivered item

  • If required, print and mail it manually

  • Record your external action by clicking “External Action” in the mail details

IMPORTANT: Where no delivery has been successful, it is the responsibility of the Council to print and mail these items. Once actioned click into the mail details and click “External Action” to add a note. The mail is then moved to the “Undeliverable actioned” tab and no further action is required

Once this is done, the item will be moved to the “Undeliverable Actioned” tab.
