What does it mean when we say Payreq Mailboxes are “employee controlled”?

Modified on Thu, 30 Oct at 4:39 PM

When we say Payreq Mailboxes are employee controlled, we mean your employees — not you — own and manage access to their personal Smart Mailbox and its contents.

That control includes:

  • Managing subscriptions: Employees can add or remove connections to employers or organisations at any time.
  • Privacy and security: Their mailbox is private. Only the employee can see their documents, even if they’ve left your organisation.
  • Portability: Because the mailbox belongs to the individual, not the employer, it stays with them when they change jobs.
  • Transparency: Employees can see delivery notifications, view history, and download documents whenever they need to.
  • Accessibility: Employees have access to their documents for up to seven years, even after they have left your company.

Why this matters

Employee-controlled mailboxes remove the need for shared logins, insecure email attachments, or employer-managed portals. This gives employees confidence that their personal data stays private — and gives you the compliance reassurance that delivery is secure, auditable, and certified to SOC 2 and ISO 27001 standards.

In short: You deliver. Payreq secures. Employees stay in control.
